Fixed Rate Bond + Some Instant Access - 6.07% Is A Great Rate

April 2007

The Leeds Building Society has introduced a two-year Fixed Rate Savings Bond paying 6.07% gross interest a year until May 31, 2009.

The Bond Details

  • Interest rate is 6.07% gross fixed for two years
  • A monthly interest option is also available which pays 6% gross a year, this is for people who require a monthly income
  • Minimum opening balance is £5,000
  • The account has no short-term interest rate bonuses nor do you have to open another account with the Leeds
  • The Bond allows instant access of up to a quarter of the funds without having to give notice or lose out on any interest

Conclusion

Not only is this an excellent interest rate but we really like its flexibility in that savers can withdraw up to 25% of their money without suffering any financial penalty. Normally with fixed rate saving bonds it is not possible to withdraw any money until the Bond has expired.

This bond therefore has some flexibility built in. Flexibility is something that savers should always be on the lookout for because you never know how your financial circumstances may change in the future.
